Leicestershire hopes that he will give those displays into  20-20 arena, where he is also compiling a decent record as an world best all-rounder in both internationally and domestically.

Shakib’s T20 figures aren’t a spectacular but his batting average is around 20 at a strike rate of 128 per 100 balls which suggests he is able to make an impact.

He is having 117 wickets in 19 apiece with a low economy rate of less than seven runs per over which indicates to him being a tricky cricketer to get away.

Leicestershire has first-hand experience of Shakib Al Hasan’s talents, One Day skipper Josh Cobb has played alongside with him for Dhaka Gladiators as they won second edition of Bangladesh Premier League this year. ‘Shakib Al Hasan  offers unbelievable cricket knowledge of this game.’ said by  Leicestershire head coach Phil Whitticase.

“Shakib has a great all-round ability. I talked to Josh about him and he said that as a batsman he is very much positive in the middle of an innings against the spinners.

‘In a bowling point of view, Shakib shares us options. If the conditions are right then he can bowl up front. He could bowl at the death, or could give us control in middle of an innings with the bat.’

Head coach Whitticase agreed that, like any foreign player, Shakib Al Hasan will take time to settle but quickfire nature of the T20 means he will need to settle quickly if Leicestershire are to get full benefit from his talents in the summer’s campaign.

Plus point is that even at 26, Shakib Al Hasan is already an accomplished world class player who has had experience of a wide variety of playing conditions. That is included a spell in this country with the Worcestershire in 2011 – though Shakib probably wouldn’t appreciate it being pointed out that the Foxes have won both T20 match between the sides that summer.

If the all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan clicks Leicestershire will be a considerable step towards mounting a serious challenge in this season. [Read: Shakib AL Hasan in Friends Life T20- Schedules]
