Dhaka Premier League is on the way

Bangladesh U23 beat BCB XI by 3 wicketsPremier Division Cricket League is the largest ground for professional cricketers in Bangladesh which provides financial support for them throughout the year. Organizing the premier league of 2013 has been going through uncertainty since the beginning of the year. But now cloud seems to be disappearing and there rise a possibility of organizing this year’s premier league at the first part of September.

It has come to the news that BCB president Mr. Nazmul Hasan Papon has had a meeting with the club officials. He proposed a moderate solution to the club representatives and they also agreed with the terms.

President of Sheikh Jamal club (Dhanmondi) Mr. Monjur Kader said yesterday “we pushed the ball to their court, earlier we just suggested a probable date of exchange of players. Now we want to do that in the 3rd week of August and start the matches of premier league in the 1st week of September. If it will happen then the 1st portion of league matches come to an end before the home series against  New Zealand. The rest will be after the tour.”

A reliable source of the board has confirmed the matter. It is now hoping that the date of exchange and a full schedule of the matches will be announced within a short period.

Club officials made another proposal to the board, they told to eliminate the compulsory rule of taking specific number of players from a category during auction. Suppose, a club have to take at least 2 players from category ‘A’( it is eligible for all the other categories also). Now the clubs proposed to open this system. If it is open a club can take 1 player from category ‘A’, teams in consecutive places will have an opportunity to take remaining players from that category. It will contract the expenses of the lower grade clubs.

Bangladesh Cricket Board will most probably approve this proposal of the club officials so as to facilitate the organization of the league.
