The second phase of the Bangladesh National cricket team’s camp for the New-Zealand tour is going to kick off from today in the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket stadium at Mirpur. The new phase is going to be called ‘lengthier skill sessions’. The first stage was mainly focused on the player’s fitness which had run for three weeks. Players got a break after that. It is going to be a fresh start with something different from today. This training session is going to be conducted by Corey Richards, Bangladesh’s batting coach. The fitness camp was a bit of a surprise for the probable players of the New Zealand tour since it was newly introduced in Bangladesh cricket. But every player was happy with the camp as the improvements in their fitness were quite clear to them. This time in the 2nd phase it’s going to be more of batting fielding.
‘The camp is going to focus on a lot more specific issues and will have more intent and enthusiasm in them. We haven’t done any fielding yet, so we are going to start that too.’ said Corey Richards. Corey is also hoping that as the camp has already showed positive effect on the players the management would think to extend it for 12 months.
Most of the fitness training not only impacted player’s physical ability and fitness it has also helped to change their mentality towards diet, hydration and fitness. Players who couldn’t attend the fitness camp were bit of remorsed hearing about the improvements from the camp from others. Players like Tamim Iqbal who couldn’t attend the camp were one of them. He was found doing individual training in the stadium for last couple of days.
