Shane Jurgensen, the head coach of Bangladesh cricket, expressed his pleasure over the improvement of Norail Express Mashrafe bin Mortaza who is recovering quickly from his injury. The Bangladesh Cricket national team came back to fitness camp with skill training session yesterday ahead of the home series against the New Zealand in October 2013.
Bangladesh had scarcity of quality pace bowlers in the last couple of series after injuries made the front line quickies out of national side, but Mashrafe Mortaza’s return is something Shane Jurgensen in looking forward to. Moreover, another right-arm fast bowler of Bangladesh Robiul Islam, who led the Bangladesh side with the new ball at Zimbabwe, has been suffering from hamstring injury, but he is also expected to continue fitness in couple days. ‘Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is recovering very quickly and he is bowling with the long run up. We are very much happy the way he is getting recovered and he probably needs to work on his bowling, but we are missing him,’ said the Australian Jurgensen after their 1st day training session of second phase at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The head coach is not worried about Bangladesh ace all rounder Shakib al Hasan’s fitness as he is now playing T20 cricket overseas . He said ‘I had seen Shakib Al Hasan playing well over there and we are in touch with him regarding his fitness.’
