Undoubtedly one of the best pacers of Bangladesh, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza remarked in the practice sessions, “It is hard to say when I’ll be able to come back in test arena. But I’m trying at my level best.”
“It is not my own decision; selectors, coaches and captain are there. It is also a factor how I can bowl and how my body endures” – he added.
Bangladesh will play a three day practice match at Sheikh Abu Naser stadium in Khulna from 3 to 5 October before the New Zealand tour.
Mashrafe said that he will try to do his best in the practice matches as he was out of the game for last 4/5 months. Head Coach Shane Jurgensen is also waiting for his comeback. He said, “I want Mashrafe in the tests right now if possible. I’ll decide the matter after watching him in the practice match.”
All of the players are out of the game after the Zimbabwe tour. Premier League will be much beneficial for the players now. Mashrafe said, “It is not possible to play more of practice matches. So we have to adjust from this match.”
Country’s best pacer couldn’t participate in the last World Cup in 2011 in which Bangladesh was one of the host countries. When asked about his expectations for 2014 T20 World Cup, Mashrafe said, “I’m not thinking about it now. There are New Zealand, Sri Lanka tour and also the Asia cup in front of us. I’m considering more of these now.”
