Sylhet's dream to host T20 World Cup

ICC investigating Sylhet StadiumAfter visiting the Sylhet stadium, ICC representatives have expressed their satisfaction over the total construction and reform process of the stadium.  They told that the project is running satisfactorily and they are hoping that it will be completed within the allotted time. So now it is certain that the world cup is going to be held in Sylhet.

On hearing the news the inhabitants of Sylhet are excited. A third year student of Sylhet agricultural university Joy Prokash said, “It’s been my childhood dream to watch cricket live in Sylhet. Our hopes of watching 2011 World Cup in Sylhet were not fulfilled. Now we have the opportunities to show the world how crazy Sylhetis are for their cricket”.

Sajeda Islam Chowdhury Noami, a law student of Sylhet’s North East university is very joyous knowing that ‘the world will know Sylhet by it’.

Earlier the newly elected Mayor of Sylhet welcomed the ICC representative team as soon as they reached there on Sunday. He said, “The city corporation is doing every possible thing to prepare the Sylhet stadium as an international venue.”

The head of the representative team event manager Chris Tetley expressed his deep satisfaction in this regard- “There are lot more differences in here now than we visited earlier. Many things have changed. The work is progressing well enough. We are happy watching the field condition.”

A resident of Tatipara, Shakib Hossain said, “We have now more responsibility in hand. Everyone have to look after its management. It is a big achievement for Sylhet. We wish that more international matches will be played here in future”.
