Salma Khatun was eager to play a practice match before the South Africa tour. On Wednesday at Sahara-BCB National Cricket Academy’s ground in Mirpur, the team played two practice matches of 20 overs.
The first match was won by the Bangladesh Women’s Red team by 21 runs, and the second match was taken away by the Green team with 3 wickets in hand.
The Red team decided to bat in the first match after winning the toss. They made a total of 116 runs with a loss of 4 wickets. The highest of 34 runs came from Salma’s bat. Ayesha Rahman was the second highest with 27 runs.
In response, the Green team did not succeed to make more than 99 runs in the 20 overs with a loss of 9 wickets. The maximum of 26 runs came from Rumana Ahmed’s bat.
Salma picked up three wickets and gave away 22 runs. Besides, Jahanara Alam and Shayla Sharmin picked up two wickets each.
The Red team won the toss again in the second match and made a total of 99 runs with a loss of 6 wickets in their innings. The maximum of 28 runs came from Shahnaz Parbhin.
In reponse, Ayesha Aktar struck 24 runs and Lata Mandal made 17 runs which carried the Green team to their aim with three balls to spare.
The Red team’s best bowler in that match was Sabikun Nahar Jesmin; she picked up 3 wickers for 21 runs.
The Bangladesh Women’s Team will play three ODI and twenty-20 matches against South Africa.
