Chittagong is prepared to host the practice match and the first test match of the New Zealand series, the District Sports Association informed.
At a press conference held by Chittagong District Sports Association (CJKS) at MA Aziz Stadium on Monday, the General Secretary Azam Nasir Uddin said, “We have arranged all the security equipment for the first test match and the preparation match. Considering the forthcoming Eid, Durga puja and the political situations, we have discussed with the law enforcers to ensure safety.” [Read also: An incredible 465 runs in 50 overs]
He added, “We have discussed with Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium’s adjoining leaseholders of the cow market, local police administration and the City Corporation. Security measures will be taken for ensuring safe travelling to the stadium for the first test match scheduled to start before the Eid.”
New Zealand will arrive in Bangladesh in Tuesday to play two test matches, three ODIs and one Twenty-20 matches. The first test will begin on October 9 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Prior to the first Test, BCB XI team will play a three-day practice match with the New Zealanders at MA Aziz Stadium. After eight years an international match is being held at this venue where Bangladesh had won their first test match.
Nasir Uddin said, “It is a matter of dignity for us because cricket matches are returning to the venue where we witnessed the first victory of Bangladesh’s Test record.”
The tickets for the practice match will be sold at MA Aziz Stadium. The common gallery ticket for this match is priced at 30 taka and the pavilion has been priced at five-hundred taka. Tickets for the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury will be sold at the security center of the stadium.
