Marshall struck century after Razzak’s 7 wickets

The experienced left-handed spinner, Abdur Razzak, and the highest run scorer of the last season in First Class tournament, Marshall Ayub, displayed an amazing performance in the practice match.

Marshal-Ayub scored hundred for Red TeamMarshall Ayub scored an unbeaten century after Abdur Razzak’s seven wickets haul in an innings in the second day of 3-day practice match at Khulna Abu Naser Stadium. The best pacer of the country, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, also managed to get a wicket on the second day.

The Bangladesh Green Team started their play on Wednesday at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, with 156 runs on board with the loss of four wickets. The previous partnership of 76 runs was carried on to 140 runs by Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehrab Hossain Jr.

The partnership was broken when Mushfiq’s wicket was taken by Razzak, and caught by Mahmudullah Riyad. Mushfiq managed to play a fine innings of 84 runs.  After reaching half-century, Mehrab’s wicket wicket fell for 51 runs.  Out of the last five batsman of the Green Team, only Sohag Gazi managed to get into double figures; he played an innings of 35 runs.

After the departure of Mehrab, the Green Team collected only 19 runs in their last four wickets and ended the innings with a total of 268 runs.

Razzak was the best bowler of the Red team; he took 7 wickets for 73 runs. After this great performance, Razzak’s position in the team as a spinner with Shakib and Sohag is highly preferable.

Mashrafe had done two spells of five overs in the previous day, but he could not get any wicket. On the second day, he took the wicket of Ziaur Rahman after bowling five overs.

In reply, Red Team lost 3 quick wickets for only 27 runs. However, at the end of the day Marshall managed to carry the team to a firm position; they ended the day with 282 runs for five wickets.

After the fall of Nasir Hossain (34) and Mahmudullah (23), Marshall handled the situation by growing an undefeated partnership of 131 runs with Somya Sarkar (55*). Marshall has played a smooth innings of 147 runs in 197 balls, and struck 21 fours and two sixes.

Marshall was the top run scorer in the Fourteenth National Cricket League, where he played 11 matches and scored 604 runs. He was also the most run scorer in the Bangladesh Cricket League; he scored 465 runs in 4 innings. Because to Naeem Islam, Marshall did not get the opportunity to play in the Sri Lankan tour despite his name being on the test squad.

Amongst the bowlers of the Green Team, Robiul Islam picked two wickets for 32 runs.
