Shakib eyes on test matches against New Zealand

Bangladesh  during training session in ChittagongAlthough veteran spinner Daniel Vettori is not present in the team, Shakib Al Hasan does not want to undermine the touring New Zealand. Shakib talked to the journalists after finishing practice in the Johur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, he said, “New Zealand have done well in test matches recent times. There will be good competition in this series also. Vettori will not be able to play in this series due to injury. He is the second highest wicket taker of New Zealand in test matches after Richard Hadle taking 360 wickets in an average of 34.42.  Moreover the spin all rounder scored almost 4,516 runs in test matches with a 30.10 average. He took 284 wickets in ODIs.

Shakib said in this regard, “Vettori is most probably the highest wicket taker of New Zealand against Bangladesh. His absence will definitely make some differences. But others are also good bowlers; we have to take it in our considerations during making preparations.”

Another experienced batsman Martin Guptil is also absent in the team. About his personal target in the test matches, Shakib said, “I have no other target than playing well”.

The practice match have been abandoned due to rain, Shakib said that a professional player has to adjust with all these things. But Shakib said New Zealand have much loss in this regard, “they do not know about our field condition. This is the opportunity for them to get accustomed with this. But they lost the opportunity due to rain.”
