“Australia series has been finalised. I am saying it because the president of their board told me on the last day of the meeting – Wednesday – that he and his wife are coming to watch the first Test. That was the first time he said anything about the series during the meeting,” said Papon.

“The first Test is in August. They didn’t want to stay here for the five-day Eid break. We will work from the third day of Eid for the second and final Test,” he added.

The Australia series was supposed to be held in October 2015. But they postponed it due to security concerns. Later they wanted to visit Bangladesh in 2017. The CA wanted BCB to arrange ODIs instead of Tests as Australia would tour India after Bangladesh series. But BCB stuck with Tests.

This series will be Bangladesh’s first bilateral series after Champions Trophy.
