BCB boss ‘shocked’ at Pakistan’s tour cancellation

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon is shocked at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s sudden decision to call of the scheduled Bangladesh tour later this year. Papon said he had been meeting PCB chief Shahryar Khan at the ICC meeting In Dubai for last two days, but not for once had Khan brought the matter before him. “We are here (Dubai) together at the ICC meeting. We have also held between us. But he (Khan) never revealed the pull-out decision to me. When I last talked to him, it was final that Pakistan would tour Bangladesh July, and in return we would send either our Under-19 or the ‘A’ team to Pakistan,” Papon told Prothom Alo.

However, Papon said he would wait for the official confirmation from PCB’s side before giving away his own formal statement regarding the issue, “I have heard the news (o Pakistan cancelling Bangladesh tour). But PCB hasn’t yet informed us anything officially. When they make it on paper, we will also release our statement.”

Meanwhile, the BCB supremo also said that Cricket Australia (CA) boss David Peever had confirmed to him about Australia’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh in August this year. The matches are expected to be held before and after the Eid-ul-Azha festival in Chittagong and Fatullah respectively. Papon is likely to announce the tour schedule once he is back in Dhaka.
