For these venues, BCB has to import advance quality grasses from outside the country. In 2012, the old grass top of the Sher-e-Bangla stadium was lifted and the new improved Bermuda grass was planted.
These type of grass is used in many famous cricket field’s outfield around the globe. Bermuda grass is much more convenient and safe for fielding.
To serve the purpose in future, BCB now wants to plant grass. “The repair work of Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium has been going on for several months. Not only Mirpur, but also in other venues will be going on with plantation of our own produced grasses” said BCB grounds committee chairman Hanif Bhuiyan.

“We have decided, we will plant grasses at Mirpur and other stadiums from our own nursery and will not import any grass from the outside. BCB wishes to put a nursery and from there we can supply grass as needed.” He added.
