Bhuvneshwar Kumar stars as Sunrisers wins a cliffhanger

Sunrisers Hyderabad has escaped a narrow defeat against Kings XI Punjab in the 19th match of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Defending a target of 159 runs scoring after batting first, the home team bowlers managed to bundle Kings XI Punjab 5 runs away from the victory target, thanks to some spell bounding bowling effort from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

India’s national team star pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed a fifer conceding a paltry of 19 runs in his allotted 4 overs, shocked and awed Kings XI Punjab batting line up, specially Manan Vohra who literally gave his everything away today to save the team from being defeated.

Vohra clutched the crease up to the 19th over, scored 95 runs before he departed facing Bhuvneshwar Kumar and rattled Punjab’s hope for defeat for the last wicket went on quickly before there were two more deliveries left and 5 more runs to score.

Kings XI Punjab’s star studded batting line up startled maleficently with South African master hitter Hashim Amla departed in the first ball of the innings, trapped leg before wicket off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Promoted a little up in the order flamboyant Aussie hitter Glenn Maxwell mishit the chance this time for the Punjab, was caught by Hyderabad skipper Warner, becoming the second victim of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Maxwell scored 10 off 12 balls.

And in the middle order of Kings XI Punjab was unsettled by Afghan star Rashid Khan taking back to back wickets in the fourth and last delivery of the tenth over. David Miller and Wriddhiman Saha both were shattered by Rashid scoring 1 and 0 respectively.

Leading the team from the front, David Warner, the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad has set a new record in the Indian Premier League on Monday. Scoring 70 runs against Kings XI Punjab today, Warner became the owner of most number of half centuries in IPL.

Opened the batting with Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, the Australian hard hitter produced a 54 ball 70 runs with 7 shots to the boundary and 2 to the over boundary.

Dhawan composed run a ball 15 with a single shot of four. Sunrisers Hyderabad lost 2 quick wickets in the middle; Moises Henriques struggled to make 9 balls playing 16 deliveries for it while the team’s premier middle order performer Yuvuraj Singh fall for a golden duck. Both were taken by left arm orthodox bowler Axar Patel and in the similar fashion, stumped by wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

After the home team lost 3 wicket adding 50 runs on the board, Naman Ojha was there to rescue. With a strike rate of 170, Ojha made 34 runs encountering 20 deliveries. He struck 2 fours and 1 six. Deepak Hooda later counted 12 to make the team total reach at 159 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

For Kings XI Punjab, Mohit Sharma and Axar Patel, taking 2 wickets each became the most successful bowlers.
