Lions’ captain Raina said at the toss against Kings XI Punjab at Rajkot that Bravo might not be available anymore for this season and Gujarat might need a replacement.
“No Dwayne Bravo. He’s been doing proper rehab and it might take three-four weeks, so he might be out of the tournament. So now we have to talk to the management and think about a replacement,” said Raina.
After the match between Gujarat and Punjab was over, Bravo himself confirmed the matter about his withdrawal from this season’s IPL.
He said, “While recovery is going well and I have made vast improvement and have participated in team trainings with the Lions, my body is not ready to perform at its fullest potential.”
Bravo hasn’t played any matches for Gujarat Lions this year. He injured his hamstring during a Big Bash League game on December 29, 2016 for Melbourne Renegades against Perth Scorchers. He injured himself when he ran across and lowered to field.
