‘Chris Gayle should be in the playing eleven’, says Shastri

Chris Gayle is one of the most powerful hard hitters in the history of West Indian cricket. Any T20 league on earth has not gone through without Gayle in their era.

Indian Premier League’s last year’s runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore has dropped him from the playing eleven in last several matches.

However renowned commentator Ravi Shastri noted that Chris Gayle should get more chances; Shastri also added that despite his lack of form, the pinch hitter should be considered in the team.

He said, “Gayle could not play well in the first match due to bad pitch which created lots of bonuses. Any top-order batsman does not like this type of pitch. He should be included in the eleven for forthcoming matches.”

He needed 63 runs to register the milestone of ten thousand runs in Indian Premier League. Though he got the opportunity to play three matches, he could not capture the desired run due to his formlessness.

Bangalore played 5 matches without Gayle but were defeated in four. In first match, he built 32 runs consisted of 2 fours and 3 sixes just in 21 ball. Afterwards he scored 6 runs off 8 ball in the second match. Against Mumbai Indians, he did 22 run consisted of 2 fours and a six off 27 ball.
