Chris Gayle has fired against Gujarat Lions in the 20th match of VIVO Indian Premier League 2017 at Rajkot. The Jamaican has also completed his 10000-run landmark in T20s.

Gayle returned into the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s playing XI against Gujarat. He was three short of reaching five figures in Twenty20 cricket. It took a while for him to achieve this feat. But since then, it was a nightmare for the bowlers.

The left-hander scored 77 runs off 38 deliveries at a strike rate of 202.63. He smashed 5 fours and 7 sixes in the innings. He made 122-run partnership with captain Virat Kohli for the first wicket. It was the first time ever a pair shared century partnerships ten times in T20 cricket.

Gayle got a luck during his knock. Brendon McCullum took a catch diving towards his right side at long-off. But his hat hit the boundary line which resulted in a six. Ravindra Jadeja was the unlucky bowler.

Gayle is the first batsman ever to score ten thousand runs in T20 cricket. He has now 10074 runs in 290 matches (285 innings) at a strike rate of 149.51 at average of 40.62 with 61 fifties and 18 centuries.
