When Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli fired up in double barrel for a single team what else could be done there? So Gujrat Lions has had no clue on Tuesday except but accepting a big defeat; this time it has been measured in 21 runs.
At the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Royale Challengers Bangalore handed a comprehensive defeat to Gujarat Lions in the 20th match of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The fate was almost certain for Gujarat Lions when RCB piled up a huge total of 213 runs after being sent into bat first. The Lions must have considered today’s decision as a mistake when they found themselves bamboozled by the attack that launched from the very beginning of the innings by Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli – the premier master blasters of world cricket.
Anyway the opening partnership of Royale Challengers Bangalore did not extend longer than 122 runs, accumulated in less than thirteen overs of the innings.
The ultimate destruction was projected by Caribbean giant Chris Henry Gayle who has even been dropped for bad patches in the ongoing IPL. But as the old proverb is going on in cricket – the form is temporary, the class is permanent.
After getting back into the team, Gayle showed what he is meant for. Thrashing 7 blow to the galleries with 5 more to cross the boundary line – Gayle stormed to 77 runs encountering a handful of 38 deliveries.
Indian captain Virat Kohli seemed rather placid on the other end with just one shot of six. Plundering 50 balls, Kohli scored 64 runs.
Ironically for Gujarat Lion’s bowling line up, Gayle and Kohli are the only wickets they could manage to grip in the long innings.
Travis Head and Kedar Jadhav were to climb the run – mountain even higher for RCB scoring unbeaten 30 and 38 runs respectively after two openers departed.

Thereafter Gujarat Lions innings started horribly for them; chasing a momentous total, they lost Dwayne Smith right in the second ball of the first over – the team score stood 1-1.
Brendon McCullum and skipper Suresh Raina added 36 runs in the second wicket. In the fourth over, Raina left McCullum to be partnered with Aaron Finch. The two rapidly took Gujarat Lions’ inning to pass hundred run marks – McCullum was on fire.
When Finch got out for 19, it immediately brought RCB bowlers the wicket of Dinesh Karthik as well.
McCullum was still there up to the fifteenth over, scored a magnificent knock of 72 runs in 44 deliveries. He too hammered 7 sixes like that of Chris Gayle with 2 shots of four.
Ishan Kishan was at the end with 39 runs but things ended quite passively for the Lions scoring 192 in their 20 overs.
