Suresh Raina opened up the stream of run flow at the Eden as the visiting Gujarat Lions stead passed Kolkata Knight Riders’ 187 runs innings with 10 ball to spare in the innings, registering a comfortable win of 4 wickets in the 23rd match of this season’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
Playing 18.2 overs, the Lions piled up 188 runs; Suresh Raina became the last batsman to go back in the pavilion before his team reached into the victory lap. Raina, led from the front, powered 84 runs, playing a half of that number of ball (46 balls), plucking 9 fours along with 4 sixes.
When Raina departed at the score of 180 runs, the rest of the Lions’ batsmen had have little to do to win the match which they completed within 3 more deliveries.
Ravindra Jadeja and James Faulkner were unbeaten scoring 19 and 4 runs respectively.
In reply to combative total of Kolkata Knight Riders, two openers of Gujarat Lions Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum started moderately picking up 42 runs in less than 4 overs.

Caribbean all – rounder Sunil Narine kicked off the innings of Kolkata Knight Riders uncontrollably for the Gujrat Lions’ bowlers. In the first three overs of the innings, Narine and Gautam Gambhir lifted the team total up to 45 runs, 42 of which had been contributed by Sunil Narine.
With a destructive strike rate of 247.05, the West Indian opener scored his 42 runs in 17 deliveries, decorated the innings with 9 shots for four and a sole six.
After the departure of Sunil Narine, Gautam Gambhir fired up the innings partnering with Robin Uthappa. Kolkata Knight Riders saw a 69 run second wicket partnership, established a base for the big innings.
