Shakib Al Hasan is now in India to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in what is his 6th season with the Shah Rukh Khan-owned side. But so far his experience in this season has been nothing short of sore, as he could play just one match, and had to sit out for the rest of the matches. Even in the match he played, he couldn’t do anything of note. With the bat in hand, he remained not out on 1 off 1, and in bowling he gave away 31 runs in 3 overs. So, how is he feeling about this new experience, as throughout his career he has used to get the ‘star treatment’, and this is just the first time he is being neglected despite being available for playing. [Read also: Two Pakistani cricketers engage in public spat]
“Actually I am on a holiday here, and I am enjoying it thoroughly. I am relaxing… Can there be anything of more fun than this, you say! I am having fun. They (KKR team management) are also saying, ‘This year you need some rest, so that you can do well in the Champions Trophy.’”
Asked how he is seeing the game from outside the field, Shakib said: “It’s up to every individual. It depends on how one is looking at the things. It’s quite different from different perspectives. If you are a spectator, you see it one way. If you are a coach, it’s the other. If you are a player, it’s different, and of course if you are a left-out player, things are much more different.
“Obviously I am having some experience. But I won’t reveal that. Let that be inside me. People who have never been witness to such experience, they can learn a lot from such situations.”
