International cricket to be back in Mirpur soon

Australia will come to Bangladesh on coming September to play a two-match Test series against the hosts. Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla stadium will be back through the series to arrange an international match after almost one year – the news has been informed by Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nizamuddin Chowdhury. International cricket to be back in Mirpur soon

The last series that was arranged at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium was against England in October last year.

While speaking about the forthcoming Australia series, BCB CEO said, “Australia will visit Bangladesh in coming September. According to the schedule the 1st match will be held before Eid-Ul-Fitr and other will be after Eid. Pakistan will also come on July to play a series in Mirpur, we hope to start an international match through Pakistan series or if not possible then through the Australia series.”

The repairing work of Mirpur stadium has started from beginning this year and hopefully half of work will be finished within coming July.

According to BCB ground and facilities Dept. the rest of the work will be finished on August.

Thereafter when Nizamuddin Chowdhury was asked where the Pakistan series will be held, he replied, “It will be decided on 22 April in the meeting for BCB board of directors. If we fail to prepare Mirpur before July, the Pakistan series will be arranged in Fatullah or Chittagong stadium and Sylhet stadium will be used as an alternative.”
