Lions outclass RCB

Star studded Royal Challengers Bangalore has suffered another setback in the 31st match of this season’s Indian Premier League. Virat Kohli’s team has been outclassed by Gujarat Lions.

The team sitting at the bottom of the point table, Gujarat Lions has just handed a 7 wicket defeat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium – the home ground of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Questing the easy total of 134 runs was made easier for Gujarat Lions by Suresh Raina and Aaron Finch. Skipper Raina has kept on trucking his good run with the bat in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. He led the team from the front with an unbeaten score of 34 runs.

Facing 30 deliveries, Suresh Raina flicked 4 fours and one six. Towards defending the poor total, Samuel Badree raised hopes for RCB when he claimed two quick wickets in the beginning of the Gujarat Lions’ innings.

Opener Ishan Kishan was the first man to depart, being noosed by Badree in the third ball of the third over; he scored an 11 ball 16 (4×4). One over later Badree picked up the wicket of dangerous Brendon McCullum scoring 3 off 6.

But it was all Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowlers afforded for the match except but the wicket of Aaron Finch in the terminal session of the match.

Captain Suresh Raina partnering with Finch, piled up 92 in the third wicket partnership as the Lions raced to the victory target quickly.

Finch completed his half century on the course, scored a marvelous knock of 72 before Negi had his wicket in the first ball of the thirteenth over.
With the help of 6 tremendous shots of sixes, Aaron Finch added another 5 for boundaries rushed to 72 in 34 balls.

In the initial part of the game, Gujarat Lions’ skipper Suresh Raina had the smile of the coin and decided to field first.

Gujarat Lions’ Australian recruit Andrew Tye steamed his medium pace bowling over the sparkling RCB batting line up captured the precious wicket of Chris Gayle and other two as well that of Mandeep Singh and Tim Head.

Royal Challengers Bangalore received the shock of losing the wickets of master hitter Chris Gayle and skipper Virat Kohli early in the innings.

Kohli was gone at the team score 22 caught by Aaron Finch off Basil Thampi. The Indian skipper made his personal score of 10 in 13 with a single over boundary.

Gayle and AB De Villiers both were uncharacteristically tenacious in scoring – the Caribbean giant made 8 off 11 while De Villiers run was 5 off 11.

The highest score was done by P Negi in the later part, he made 32 and another 31 was done by Kedar Jadhav.

While Aniket Choudhury added 15 runs in the tail end of RCB, the starry batting line up was chained at 134 runs in their 20 overs losing all the wickets.

Andrew Tye took 3 for 12 while Jadeja captured 2 for 28 runs for the Lions.
