Nasir Hossain once used to be one of the automatic choices of Bnagladesh national cricket team. But gone are those days. Now he is no more a regulare feature of Bangladesh side. The last time he donned national jursey was way back in October 2016 during the one-day series against England. Since then, he not even got chance to be in the squad, let alone play for the side. Still Nasir kept performing for wherever he played. He did well in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). Then he also played superbly in the Emergin Cup, followed by the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL). Overall the all-rounder has been among good performances of late despite not quite getting the chance in national colors. And now, finally the all-rounder has got his price, as the selectors called him up for the 18-member Bangladesh national squad for the upcoming tri-nation series in Ireland, involving Ireland and New Zealand as the other two sides.

After announcing the squad, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu informed the reason behind Nasir’s inclusion. He said: “Nasir is playing good cricket. He did well in the Emerging Cup. He has also been consistent in the domestic circuit. He was brought into the Emerging Cup squad so that he didn’t lose his focus from international cricket. And he did really well. We are satisfied with his performance.”
Though Nasir is in the 18-member squad for Ireland tri-series, he is not in the 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales. According to the chief selector, Nasir needs more time to prove himself before getting into the national side for bigger missions, as he had been out of the team for quite a while.
