He has a lot of sympathy for anyone suffering from trouble or financial crisis. There is a great example of his generosity. In future it may never be disclosed but the beneficence will not be in the hole.
On Monday, after the match between Legends of Rupganj and Sheikh Jamal, former national team left handed bowler Syed Russel has disclosed his story of survival in cricket.
Syed Russel injured his arm back in 2010 that threw him out of the national team till to date. He caught 12 wickets in 6 Test matches and 61 wickets in 52 One-day international matches. Once his skillful bowling put Bangladesh one step ahead. Nobody even BCB had not any funding for Russel that made him so much hopeless.
Getting back from waist injury he fell into left arm injury for which a surgical procedure was mandatory to recover requiring a huge amount of money that was quite difficult to arrange for Syed Rasel. The cost of the surgery in Bangkok was 8 lac BDT while in Mumbai, it costed near about 4 lac BDT.
An upset Syed Rasel went to Mashrafe Bin Mortaza asking him for a loan of 4 lac taka. Mashrafe replied, “Sure, but not as loan. I will give it to you as a friend and that is not refundable.”
Russel did his treatment in Mumbai. Doctor said there was no need to surgery that saved much money. Now he is running the practice sessions but the injury trouble is still prevailing.
Rasel said he tried to repay the loan to Mashrafe Bin Mortaza but Tiger captain did not accept that.
