Shakib, Mustafizur to miss practice matches in England

The main purpose of the triangular series, scheduled to kickstart on May 12, is to give Bangladesh and New Zealand some good preparation ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales.

Before leaving for Ireland, Bangladesh will play two 50-over practice matches in England against two local sides – Duke of Norfolk on May 3 and Sussex County Cricket Club on May 5.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon on Monday while talking to a local television hinted that Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman may not feature in those practice matches.

“Shakib and Mustafiz may miss the practice matches in England before going to Ireland to play the tri-nation series,” the BCB boss said.

The duo is now in India to take part in the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), and this is the reason for them to give the tri-series a miss, which also confirms that Shakib and Mustafizur will not be a part of the conditioning camp either.

Shakib plays for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mustafizur for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. But so far in this season they haven’t been given enough match playing opportunity. While Mustafizur played just one match, against Mumbai Indians, Shakib is yet to make his season debut for the Kolkata outfit.
