Umpires also to enjoy raised pay-scale

Cricketers wage has been increased few days ago. Now the pay scale of local umpires will also be raised. The decision has taken in the 16th executive meeting of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

“Based on rating points and performance, the umpires will receive 20 percent more payment than before. The salary will be determined by grading four grades from ‘A’ to ‘D’.” BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon said.

Why the umpires are being paid the increased salary, Nazmul Hasan Papon explained, “If we look at the future of cricket by excluding the club, then we have to prioritize the umpires. They have to be strong. If we left the umpires on base of the complaint, then it will not the right decision. The umpires are being afraid of directors. The foundation for umpires and match referees must be strengthened.”

BCB president has looked at the pressure of the club so that the umpires are not scared. He believes, the problem will be solved a lot by putting cameras on the field.
