'I want to be one of the top ten batsmen at the end of the career' - Tamim Iqbal

Ten years have been passaged since Tamim Iqbal Khan began his international career. Within this time frame he became the most successful batsman in the history of Bangladesh cricket securing almost all the records in batting.

In a recent interview with one of the most published dailies in Bangladesh, Tamim Iqbal wished to end his career becoming one of the top ten contemporary batsmen in cricket world.

“It is absolutely hard to be listed among the greatest batsmen in cricket history. But I want to be among the greatest batsmen of my arena at the end of my career” – Tamim Iqbal said.

In the last completed series against Sri Lanka, Tamim enveloped the achievement of scoring 10 thousand runs accumulating three formats of the game. Satisfied with his achievement, Tamim said, “Yes, it is proud feeling to score ten thousand runs but that was not the end. My dream is bigger. I will try to score more and more runs for Bangladesh as long as I represent my country.”

Does he ever wish to score ten thousand runs in any format of the game? Tamim said, “Who doesn’t wish to do so? But that was never be easy. I will have to work harder and harder to achieve that kind of target.”

Remembering the difficult journey in international cricket, the hard hitter opener said, “The pathway of my career was not that easy. I could grab some immediate successes in the beginning of my international career. But lately I had to struggle much.”
