WI-Pak Sabina Test evenly poised at day one

The first day of first Test between West Indies and Pakistan is equally balanced at Sabina Park, Kingston as the hosts have anchored the innings after early blows from Pakistani bowlers.

Pakistan sent West Indies to bat first at Sabina Park. The visitors gave the hosts a difficult start as they picked up five wickets for 71 runs in 26.2 overs. Four wickets fell in the first session. Mohammad Amir was looking dangerous with the new ball as he scalped three wickets.

Opener Kieran Powell scored 33 runs on his Test return. Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich rescued West Indies with a 118-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Chase scored his second Test half-century. He made 63 runs off 151 balls with 7 fours and a six. Dowrich brought up his fifth fifty scoring 130-ball 56 runs including 9 fours. Both of them departed in the 70th over. Yasir Shah dismissed them on consecutive two deliveries.

Chase was the first one to go. He skied up the ball and Wahab Riaz did the rest. He took a stunning diving catch to break a crucial partnership.

West Indies are 244 for seven wickets in 81 overs at stumps, day one . Jason Holder (30*) and Devendra Bishoo (23*) are unbeaten at the crease. Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas took his first wicket in Test cricket on his second ball on debut.
