Despite of everything Mahmudullah Riyad had played well in that series and now did even better as well as showed his consistency in the recently concluded tri-nation series in England.

Mohammed Ashraful who is currently out of international cricket thinks, thinking of dropping Mahmudullah from the ODI side is nothing but a joke. He praised Mahmullah Riyad’s batting after the final match of the tri-nation series.

“Mahmudullah played fantastic in the first match of the tri-nation series against Ireland. Although the match was washed out due to rain, the partnership between Tamim and Mahmdullah in the 4th wicket stand was very helpful. He scored a half-century in the previous match against New Zealand. He has been consistent and also scored runs against Ireland in the second game too,” Mohammad Ashraful said in a live program.

Ashraful also slammed the people who raised questions regarding Mahmhdullah’s inclusion in the ODI team during Sri Lanka tour after not being able to perform well in the Test series earlier. He said People in Bangladesh can not judge players properly that’s why a group of the fans were after Mahmudullah Riyad’s inclusion in the team. Although Mahmudullah’s performance was not that good in the Test format, considering that in ODI or T20 team selection is unfair.

“Mahmudullah was inconsistent in the Test format but he has always been consistent in the ODI and T20 format since last couple of years. Actually our problem is we can’t judge players properly. When a player does not perform in a particular format, we raise question about their inclusion in the other formats too which is not fair,”Ashraful signed off.
