Australia skipper Steve Smith has told that his side Australia are eager to win the 2017 edition of ICC Champions Trophy in England. He wants his team to play as hard as they can in the tournament. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ অস্ট্রেলিয়ার নজর শিরোপায়]
Australia were knocked out of the tournament in group stage in the last edition under Michael Clarke. Although they are the two-time winners of Champions Trophy. Ricky Ponting led his side to victory in back-to-back tournaments, 2006 and 2009. Smith wants Australia to regain the title.
“I had a good two months in India with the Indian Premier League and we are really excited about this tournament. England is a great place to play and all the boys are pumped up for this one.
“We have had a busy schedule but I’m feeling really good physically and mentally and things are in a good place. This tournament is a really important one for us. We have a bit of a break after this and have to go as hard as we can to do well.
“Trophies like this only come along every two years so it is a really important series. Australia has a very good record in competitions so hopefully we can keep that up.
“We want to win it, everybody does, and that is what we are focused on,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Australia will face New Zealand, Bangladesh and hosts England in Group A. Their first match is on June 2 against the Blackcaps at Edgbaston. They will take on against Bangladesh on June 5 at Oval. They will lock horns with their arch-rivals England on June 10 at Oval.
