Ramiz Raja, once termed as a ‘big enemy’ of Bangladesh cricket, has showered the Tigers with praise, saying they will pose a big threat to other teams in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2017. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ “বাংলাদেশ এখন সেরাদের থেকেও সেরা”]
While commentating during the warm-up match between Bangladesh and India at The Oval on Tuesday, Raja said: “Bangladesh are no more minnows. Rather they are a team full of confidence, and right at the peak of their cricketing history. They now have the self belief like never before that they are even better than the best.”
Bangladesh will start their Champions Trophy campaign against the hosts England on June 1. England are also the runners-up of the last edition in 2013, having lost the final to India. This time the English are one of the most favourite sides to lift the trophy by becoming the eventual champions.
However, Raja believes Bangladesh will not prove to be an ‘easy go’ for the hosts, and are ready to give them some good fight, “Bangladesh will play England after two days at this very ground (The Oval). But I don’t think England will find it that easy to get rid of Bangladesh. This Bangladesh side will be right there to provide some really good fight.”
Raja is also off the view that if the Tigers are to do well in this Champions Trophy, their pace trio (Mashrafe, Mustafizur and Rubel) will have to be at their very best.
