The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur last hosted n international match in October last year. The ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) is being played in Fatullah and BKSP, as the Mirpur stadium is currently going through recontruction processes. It has now reached its last stage. So the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is mulling for the prospect of hosting the first Test against Australia in this ground. The series will take place in August this year.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury on Wednesday said, “A security delegate from the Cricket Australia came and inspected Bangladesh few days ago. The itinery and final schedule of the series is yet to be finalized, but hopefully it will be done soon with both the cricket boards’ mutual consent. We are hoping to organize the first Test match in Mirpur.”
Earlier it was known that the Mirpur might not be able to host any match of the Australia series, and hence one of the two matches could be hosted by the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
