Recently, the legendary all-rounder have talked with the reporters on the upcoming ICC tournament, at the unveiling of a wax statue of himself at New Delhi’s Madame Tussauds Museum.

“The way they are playing, yes, definitely I believe we have the team and the ability. The Indian line-up looks good. They have done well in the last 5-7 years but it depends on how well they apply themselves on that day. We have the team and the capability to win. The way they are playing, India can definitely defend the title,” Kapil said

As India won the match last time they played in England, Kapil Dev considers that as an advantage for his side.

“I know the opposition is very very tough in England. The good part is that we won last time when we played there and that is an advantage,” said Kapil said of India’s chances of defending their title in the tournament starting June 1

The former all-rounder added, “You can’t rule out any team but England will be very very tough playing in England and their team is quite good. They know the conditions better than anybody else.”

However, only one thing is a matter of concern to the 1983 World Cup-winning captain ahead of the upcoming tournament which is scheduled to be played in the UK next month. He believes only injury can stop India from defending the title.

“I just hope no player gets injured. Apart from that, I do not see any reason why India cannot win the Champions Trophy. But how they maintain themselves and put pressure on opponents — that will be the key,” confident Kapil concluded.
