Crunchy Bangladesh to face unpredictable Ireland in tournament opener Back in 2011 World Cup when Bangladesh last time faced Ireland at home, the Tigers managed a 27 run win over the Irish to initiate a fine start of the World Cup. Six years after, the two teams are going to rub their necks once again in the opening match of the Tri – nation series consisting of Ireland, New Zealand and Bangladesh. The series is seen to be a preparation stature for the forthcoming prestigious ICC Champions Trophy to begin in June. Bangladesh standing at number 7 in the ICC ranking, have huge opportunity to advance their position before the Champions Trophy. All the Tigers will have to do is to beat Ireland twice and New Zealand once in the series.

Bangladesh is in a high note after ten days of conditioning camp in Sussex and several more in Belfast. In all three preparation matches Tigers played in the tour, have exhibited profound batting form. More than 300 runs were scored in all three matches including the last one innings against Irish Wolves where the visiting team fall just 6 runs short of 400 and later grabbed a magnanimous 199 runs win.

Regular captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will not appear in the field to lead the side because of one match suspension for slow over rate. Shakib Al Hasan will be in charge of the team.

The match will kick on 10.45 am local time, 3.45 pm Bangladesh Standard Time at Malahide, Dublin.
