The Pakistan Cricket team were all set to tour Bangladesh for an away series at the end of upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. But recently there is news in Pakistan media that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have decided to boycott the tour, though there is no official announcement yet.
When this is the situation the former Pakistani cricketers have advised their Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should go on the tour for the betterment of their cricket. Wasim Akram the living legend of the game of cricket has said in a television channel that it is not ideal to pressurize Bangladesh for bilateral series.
He added, “It never works by giving threats. Bangladesh are concern about the security and that is very understandable. Though everything was under control during the PSL final. But their is regulation in every purpose. We should invite the officials from their board and provide presentation or brief about the security arrangement. We should follow a system. We always see them as our brothers and have always helped them in past.”
On the other hand former speed star Shoaib Akhter also feels PCB should allow the team to tour Dhaka. He said, “Pakistan have always helped Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their progress in cricket. It’s now their turn to help us in our bad phase. In this situation it would get a lot worse if we don’t tour Bangladesh. Also it would be very helpful for Pakistan. No matter we play ODI or test it would be very tough as they are now a very good side.”
Rashid Latif too joined his team mates. The former captain in a show in PTV has spoke in favor of Bangladesh. He said, “The England team toured Bangladesh recently despite there were security concerns. But are we doing this for political reason? There was once no cricket between India and Pakistan for 17 long years. Is there similar thing going on again? The fans would not want to see such to happen here as it was against India. Because Bangladesh is a very formidable team at the moment.”
Both the teams played their last bilateral series almost two years back in the year 2015, in Bangladesh. In which Pakistan won the two match test series by 1/0 but had to lost all the matches in three match one day series as well as the only twenty/20 match.
