West Indies were bowled out for 268 runs in 102.5 overs early on day five morning. Yasir Shah picked seven wickets for 94 runs. Pakistan required 188 runs to win the match and the series.
But the Caribbean fast bowlers struck early to give themselves a chance to win. Pakistan lost five wickets for 30 runs in the first session. They went to lunch at 35/5.
The pace bowling battery of West Indies didn’t stop taking wickets in the second session too. Shannon Gabriel and co. went hard at the visitors. Man of the Match Gabriel took career-best five wickets for 11 runs in 11 overs. Captain Jason Holder picked three wickets while Alzarri Joseph got two.
Pakistan were bundled out for 81 runs in 34.4 overs to hand West Indies a 106-run victory to level the series. Pakistan recorded their tenth lowest total in Tests, second lowest vs West Indies.
For the first time in ten years, all ten wickets have been shared by the West Indian fast bowlers on fifth day. Previous instance was also against Pakistan, in 2011 at Providence.
The second and final Test will be played on May 10 Roseau, Dominica.
