The Proteas batting maestro reached the landmark in the seventh over of the South African innings after a hostile spell from Kagiso Rabada destroyed England to buckle up at 153 runs.
The former South African skipper Hashim Amla is also the record holder of scoring fastest 6000, 5000, 4000, 3000 and 2000 ODI runs that he reached in 123, 101, 81, 57 and 40 innings respectively.
Hashim Amla reached the 7000 run mark in 150 innings while Virat Kohli had taken 161 innings to reach to the milestone.
Hashim Amla continued his magnificent batting form from the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. The Kings XI Punjab selectee hammered two hundreds in the season and ended scoring 420 runs at an average of 60.
