Injury scares Aussies, Maxwell rules out of warm - up match With few more days to go before their opening campaign of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Australia is under menace to lose their premier performer Glenn Maxwell due to injury threatening.

Hard hitter Maxwell bruised his knee cap in Australia’s opening practice match against Sri Lanka at the Oval, London on Friday.

Australia will face neighboring rival New Zealand in their tournament opener at the Edgbaston on June 2.

Australia have opted to rest the star batsman in their second warm-up match against Pakistan on Monday. Although Australian media has revealed the kind of injury is not that severe for Maxwell but the happenings has led the 28-year-old to go in his first Champions Trophy encounter without much practice.

The Kings XI Punjab skipper Glenn Maxwell scored 310 runs in 14 matches in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 will kick off on Thursday with the match between England and Bangladesh at The Oval.
