Khelaghar ensure safety in DPL

Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samiti thrashed Partex Sporting Club by 8 wickets in the Relegation league of Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket league 2016-17 to  retain a spot for the next season of the most exciting 50-over tournament in Bangladesh.

Having elected to bat first at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, it was a disappointing performance by the Partex Sporting Club batsmen as they could score only 73 runs before getting all out in the 26th over of their innings. Irfaan Shukkur was the top scorer for his side, scoring 27 off 24 balls.

In reply, Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samiti chased down the target within 16 overs losing the wickets of Salauddin Pappu and Robiul Islam Robi who scored highest 34. For Partex, spinner Nihaduzzaman and Imran bagged one wicket each.

However, with this defeat Victoria Sporting Club and Partex Sporting Club, who are on two points each, were relegated to the next year’s Dhaka First Division Cricket League. The remaining relegation playoffs will now be formalities.
