Sabbir Rahman who is mainly known as a lower-middle-order batsman, has been performing very poor in the recent matches, playing in the Bangladesh top-order. He was sent to top-order after performing well in the lower-middle-order for a long time. Sabbir even was successful in the top-order too. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ সাব্বিরেই আস্থা মাশরাফির]

But in recent times, the hard-hitting batsman has been showing inconsistency in the top-order which is a matter of worry for Bangladesh. He could score only 1 run from 2 matches in the ongoing tri-nation series among Bangladesh, Ireland and New Zealand, including a duck against Ireland.

So as expected, many Bangladeshi supporters as well as some cricket experts have been slamming the Bangladesh team management for the decision of sending Sabbir Rahman so early to bat in that unfamiliar condition. But, Bangladesh skipper has a different thing to say.

“Sabbir has been successful in this position so far. Obviously, there are some challenges in this condition but I am hopeful that he would be able to fix the mistakes. He was in rhythm. Just could not perform well in 2-3 matches. I believe he will come back strongly,” Mashrafe said.

To be noted, Sabbir smashed a century in the warm-up match just before the start of tri-nation series, playing in the same batting position.
