"Matches against Pakistan and India are important," says Mashrafe

The upcoming season of the ICC Champions Trophy is all set to kick off with a high voltage match between Bangladesh and England, on June 1. Before the start of the tournament all of the teams who are going to participate in tournament are scheduled to play some practice matches.

Bangladesh will be taking on two of the Asian giants, Pakistan and India in on 27th and 30th May respectively. Ahead of the matches, Bangladesh skipper said they want to play serious cricket not only in the champions trophy but also in these two matches too.

“Both of the practice matches are very important. Wickets in England are completely different from Ireland. But we will get an idea about the wickets after playing the practice matches against India and Pakistan. So the practice matches are also big match for us,” Mashrafe told the reporters.

Bangladesh also took a part in the recently concluded tri-nation series in Ireland, prior to the all-important Champions Trophy. Bangladesh’s performance in the series was very impressive and they also moved their position up to the sixth in the ODI ranking.

However, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza thinks his side deserved one more win in the series as the match against Ireland was washed out after a heavy rain in Dublin during the first match of the tri-nation series. But he is happy with his team’s overall performance.

“We missed out on winning the first match against Ireland due to rain. Although we lost our second match in the series against New Zealand, we played competitive cricket. But we played very well in the last two matches of the series. So the confidence level of the players is high now,” he signed off.
