MI defend 129 to seal third IPL title

Mumbai Indians registered their third Indian Premier League (IPL) title after beating Rising Pune Supergiant by one run in a nail biting finish in the last ball of the IPL 10 final. Mitchell Johnson took 3/26 to guide Mumbai Indians to the IPL 2017 title.

Batting first at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Krunal Pandya’s battling 47 helped Mumbai Indians to post a fighting total of 129 against Rising Pune Supergiant. Jaydev Unadkat and Dan Christian bowled brilliantly to restrict Mumbai Indians to 129.

Chasing the target, Smith carried on and stitched some crucial partnerships with Dhoni and Tiwary after two openers departed. But Steve Smith’s 50- ball-51 went in vain as they lost wickets in a heap towards the end.

11 runs were required off the last over and it was Mitchell Johnson who had the ball in his hand. He conceded a boundary in his first delivery but came back strongly with back-to-back wickets. One of which was of Steave Smith. And with 4 needed off the last ball, Johnson held his nerve and won the game for Mumbai.
