On this day in 2005, Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim made his first appearance in the international cricket arena at the age of only 17. He made his debut at Lords Cricket Ground which is a dream venue for every cricketers to play their first international cricket match.
Although earlier Mushfiqur was not in the main squad in that series, he had played brilliant in the practice match before the start of the series which later forced the selectors to include him in the team. But his performance on his debut Test match was not up to the mark as he could manage to score only 22 runs in that match.
However, Mushy has been one of the most hard working players since his early days which helped him face all the difficulties. He made his debut in the shorter version of cricket in 2006 and took the capraincy of all of the formats of the game in 2011.
The most dependable batsman of Bangladesh cricket team has played 54 Tests, 172 ODIs and 59 T20Is thus far in his 12 years cricket career. He combinedly has scored 8226 international runs in all three formats of the game.
The Bangladesh batting stalwart smashed 5 centuries and 17 half-centuries in Test cricket. He also became the first cricketer from his to score a double century after showing his class against Sri Lanka.
On the other hand he has been performing equally good in the shorter version of cricket too as he smashed 4 centuries and 24 half-cenruries in the ODIs. His total runs in the ODI format is 4235 while he is only 274 runs away from completing one thousand T20I runs.
