And for this change for the better, Bangladesh Crickey Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon has credited the cutter master Mustafizur Rahman, who he believes has been the real game changer for Bangladesh cricket in last couple of years.

In last few years, many new and young cricketers made their debuts for Bangladesh national cricket team. But of them, Mustafizur has been the brightest, believes the BCB boss Papon.

“Sabbir, Soumya, Mosaddek, Miraz… at least 10 young players have made debuts (in last 2/3 years). And all of them played very well. But there’s this one man who changed the game totally on its head for Bangladesh, and he is Mustafizur Rahman,” said Papon.

He also went on saying, “Mustafizur changed Bangladesh’s way of playing. It’s true that now we can win, and have won matches even without him. But before him, we used to be solely a spin-based team. After his debut, our pace department got strengthened.”

Papon believes Mustafizur will be the key to Bangladesh’s success in ICC Champions Trophy 2017. “If we bat first, we have to bat with the goal of at least 300. If we bowl first, we have to bring up early breakthroughs. If Mustafizur can bring us breakthroughs in the initial stage of the match, then I believe we can trigger a collapse on any batting unit in the world.”
