Bangladesh were at their best during the just concluded tri-nation series in Ireland, and they have been able to gain some good memory before going into the bigger stage of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales. (বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ ত্রিদেশীয় সিরিজে সেরা প্রাপ্তি মুস্তাফিজ-রুবেল)

Beating both Ireland and New Zealand team in the tri-series will obviously give them the much talked about momentum, while rising to the sixth position in ICC ODI Team Rankings will provide them with more condifence than ever.

However, as far as performance is concerned, the biggest highlights of the tri-series campaign were the performances of pacer duo Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain, and also of the batsmen overall, believes opener Tamim Iqbal.

“The highlights of the tri-series campaign were the performance of Mustafizur [Rahman], as he returned to his old form and it’s a big plus point ahead of the Champions Trophy. Rubel [Hossain] was simply fantastic in his bowling and the batsmen scored runs,” added Tamim.

Mustafizur showed the glimpse of his early days once again in this series, picking up 7wickets in just three innings’ to become the second highest wicket-taker of the competition, just behind New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner who played one match more than the Fizz.

On the other hand, Rubel Hossain got to be in the playing XI after a long time. Though he didn’t pick up many wickets, only five to be precise, but the impact of his bowling in the team’s performance can’t be defined just by numbers. Rubel bowled brilliantly in the death overs, and he will definitely be one of Bangladesh’s biggest weapons in the Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile the batsmen also did quite well in what was a series of flurry of runs. Tamim himself scored 199 runs in the series, while Soumya Sarkar made 151 and Mahmudullah Riyad 140 runs.
