Opening match of Tri-nation series washed out in rain

The opening match between Bangladesh and host Ireland cricket team has been called off due to continuously raining at Malahide, Dublin. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ বৃষ্টিতে ভেসে গেল বাংলাদেশ ও আয়ারল্যান্ডের মধ্যকার ম্যাচ]

Before the unwelcome visit of rain at Malahide, Bangladesh were 157/4 in 31.1 overs. Mahmudullah Riyad was batting on 43 runs while Tamim Iqbal was not out on 64 runs.

Earlier, Ireland won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first. Bangladesh did not get a good start as they lost two important wickets of Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman within the four overs of the innings. Both of the batsmen Soumya (5) and Sabbir (0) was removed by Chase.

Then, Mushfiq and Tamim tried to recover their early loses but their partnership see it’s end in on 47 runs in the 12th over of the match as Mushfiq was exulted by McCarthy for 13. Acting skipper Shakib Al Hasan failed to build his innings healthy. He added 14 runs before getting out.

After losing four top order batsmen on just 70 runs, Tamim and Mahmudullah hold the responsibility and played some solid cricket. They added unbeaten 87 runs in just 98 balls. On the way to their partnership, Tamim Iqbal brought up his fifty with 7 fours and remained not out on 64. On the other hand, Mahmudullah scored 43 runs including 4 fours and a six.

Chase bagged three wickets and McCarthy picked up one wicket.

Next match of Bangladesh cricket team in the tournament is on 17 May against New Zealand.
