In the fifth match of Tri-series, winning the toss Ireland asked New Zealand to bat first. New Zealand batsmen were impressive with the bat and set a total of 344 for losing 6 wickets in 50 overs. Chasing a massive total, Irish batsmen fall in pressure from the very first over.
Batsmen did not executed their plan against the Blackcaps. Meanwhile, Kiwis bowlers were phenomenal with ball as well. They used to take wicket in a regular interval. Porterfield (48) and Wilson (30) tried hard but no one able to gave them necessary support which was required. Hence, home side got all-out on 154 runs within 40 overs. And, New Zealand secured a gigantic victory.
Before that, New Zealand posted massive total of 344/6 with the help of their batting strength. Tom Latham scored a brilliant hundred and got out after scoring 104 runs. No other batmen able to reach in three digits landmark but there were contribution from the others batters as well.
New Zealand added 125 runs in their last 10 overs. Munro’s blistering firing innings of 44 runs in just 15 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes was the route of it. Alongside them, Taylor scored 57 off 64 balls while Broom scored 38 and Ronchi added 5 runs. Among the Irish bowlers, Craig Young and Peter Chase grabbed two wickets each.
By winning this match, now Blackcaps secure the trophy of this ongoing Tri-nation series with one match in hand.
