Bangladesh’s maverick all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has not been in best of forms of late. He couldn’t do anything noteworthy during the tri-nation series in Ireland. Then he also failed to step up during the first warm-up match against Pakistan when his team needed him the most. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ সাকিবের চেয়ে ভালো কে আছে? প্রশ্ন পাপনের]
Like everyone else, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief Nazmul Hasan Papon is also worried about Shakib’s recent off-form, but said the number one all-rounder would come back to his natural form anytime.
“Cricket is a team game. Nowadays the game has totally changed. You can’t win a match relying on individual brilliance. There was a time we could bank on one or two players. But those are gone now,” said Papon.
Papon also said: “Can you tell me of one player who is better than Shakib? But now his performances too often get unnoticed. That means other players are also doing well. But I hope Shakib will come back to his rhythm very soon. And once he does it, anything can happen.”
In the Ireland tri-nation series, Shakib scored only 39 runs at 13 in four matches, while he picked up just three wickets. Again in the warm-up match against Pakistan, he scored 23 runs off 27 balls with the bat in hand, and took one wicket conceding 41 runs in six overs.
