“The ICC Women’s World Cup is the pinnacle of the women’s game and as such the players should be rewarded appropriately” – ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said.
“Two million dollars is the first step towards greater parity and recognition. The change will not happen overnight but the women’s game is crucial to the global growth of cricket” – ICC CEO reckoned.
The ICC informed ten matches of the coming World Cup in England will be telecast live while remaining 21 matches will be live – streamed.
For the first time, Decision Review System will be used in the women’s game as well drone camera and Spidercam will be deployed in the final match of the tournament on 23rd of July at Lords.
The television broadcasts which will include the two semi – finals and the final, will be covered with the help of two cameras which includes eight Hawk – Eye cameras for ultra – motion ball tracking.
Welcoming the decision, Cricket Australia Chief Executive James Sutherland said, “This demonstrates a welcome, long-term commitment to the global growth of the women’s game, and it recognizes the opportunity presented by women’s sport.”
