In defiance of his long absence from national team, Rakibul Hasan is still bearing hopes of making a return to Bangladesh national team. The aspiration has increased for the 30 year old batsman after playing the devastating innings of 190 runs against Abahani Limited during the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
Talking to one of the country’s daily, Rakibul Hasan said, “Despite my bad patches while playing for the national team, I have been in good run in domestic cricket. I have tried but selectors did not consider me. Perhaps they did not think me competent.”
“Now I have delivered a 190 run innings. If selectors will find it satisfactory, I might be in the team. I can say I am still in their consideration. Last year I had been called in the 30 men squad. So hopefully I can wish to gain a chance once again” – Rakibul said.
Acknowledging his failure in the national team, Rakibul said, “Yes, I tried but it could not work out. I could not do my job in batting for which I was taken into the team.”
When he was asked whether the age will hinder his pathway towards the national team, Rakibul Hasan said, “I think, 30 is not an age to fall behind for a cricketer. Actually it is the age to flourish. You see, Mushfiqur, Tamim and Shakib are doing well right now in this age. They have lot more to deliver for the team. So I am not at all thinking about the age.”
